Fostering

Since my Panda died, I've decided to foster for a while. For my first foster, I went outside of my comfort zone and into the world of basset hounds! I fostered Daisy Mae for Tri State Basset Rescue.

Meet Daisy Mae!

Daisy is a shining example of a basset hound: She's super friendly, intelligent and a chow hound!

Daisy is an adorable 8 yr old tri-colored basset who is friendly as can be to everyone she meets. Don't be surprised if she goes belly up for tummy rubs as soon as she lays eyes on you.

She's a crooner and a bit worried with all of the changes but she crates well and she pees when asked (so far anyway!). She is inquisitive and explored every inch of her surroundings, tail wagging the entire time. She is anxious if you're not in her line of site but soon settles down if you ignore her and go about your business. She was all tail wags to a young girl on a bike and exuberantly waddled over to meet her. She was also very happy to meet two neighborhood cats--they did not reciprocate her appreciation!

Daisy happily comes when called and is very food motivated. She would make a great addition to a home with children and would be fine in a home with lots of activity. She is perky and interested in her world. Her owner says that Daisy is great with kids and loved to play and cuddle with their cat. Daisy crates very well and settles in quickly with a yummy kong. She knows sit, down and come, and is happy to follow your lead. She loves walks and is an early morning riser.

Daisy gets along fine with my dane, although an active playful dog would be a bit more than she'd like.

Daisy persists in trying to cuddle up to the neighbor's cats. She lights up and becomes very excited and happy when she sees a child. She loves to go belly up for rubs and would also love to snuggle on the couch (although that's off limits in my house).

Daisy also got all dolled up to celebrate the holidays but couldn't contain her silliness:

January 2007

Daisy was adopted today by a lovely family with children and an active household. She will be in Heaven!!
