Mitsy (fostered 5/23/08-10/05/08)

Adotped 10/5/08: Mitsy found her
forever home with a lovely MD family today! She loved the boys and
the family was so excited to meet her. I will miss her terribly,
but ask for updates often. She'll have a great time on their farm,
running around with the boys, going for car rides and generally
being spoiled.
Update 9/2/08: Mitsy started on thyroid
meds but hasn't lost any weight. We upped her dose this week and
hopefully we'll slim her down soon. She is just about perfect! She's
sweet and non-demanding and social. She hasn't had a single accident
in the house and her vice is that she will plough through anyone
and anything if she wants to go somewhere. She's usually excellent
on leash and happy to meet all new visitors. She loves to chase
squirrels but otherwise, there's not much that gets her wound up.
Update 8/1/08: Mitsy adores small
children and children of all ages. She was excited to see them at
a recent country fair, and made a fuss with a 10 month old baby,
watching over her and gently touching noses with the fearless baby.
She continues to be an easy-breezy companion at home, and asks for
nothing more than a few pets and some loving. She gets very excited
when treat time comes and runs to her bed to lay down for her treat.
It's very endearing.
Update 7/2/08: Mitsy is such a very
nice dane--she's so ladylike most of the time. She gives small sweet
kissies when you say hello at night. She gets the zoomies when I
come home from work, and zips around the room, on the couch and
back around for more pets! She's spry and really appreciates her
people. She's not a big snuggler but instead is one of those danes
who lays quietly close by, ready for an opportunity to recipricate
affection. She is extremely tolerant of her jealous foster brother
Huey and puts up very well with his sometimes annoying behavior.
Mitsy loves kongs and treat time! She walks like a dream on leash
and rides well in the car. She's been out and about with me to two
events, most recently at the celtic fling, a huge event with tons
of people. Mitsy did very well and was quite pleasant to everyone
and every dog. She has no issues with men, women or children. She
worries but eventually settles down and seems very interested in
everything. She's such a nice companion, and will make someone quite
content.
Update 6/6/08: Mitsy is slowly loosening
up and settling in. She is a wonderful companion. She jumps onto
the couch and settled herself in with paws on the arm and her head
on top of that. She's started to get the zoomies when the foster
comes home from work and races around the living room and out onto
the porch. Mitsy loves to get treats and bones, and is starting
to play with stuffies. She'll squeak and squeak for 5 minutes and
then she's done and moves on. So she's slowly getting over her sadness
and starting to enjoy her new foster home.
Mitsy went to the vet for a checkup and
he was impressed with how healthy she appears to be! At 9, her heart
is good, her eyes clear and her energy level is great. Her teeth
are not in great shape but do not warrant surgery either.
Mitsy is excellent with children and loves
to play and romp with them. She would make an excellent companion
for a retired couple with grandkids or a family who wants a low
key, loving companion.
Update 5/26/08: Ms. Mitsy was surrendered
because her family was deployed to Japan. She is devastated by the
loss of her family and her mixed breed companion of 6 years. It
will take her some time to adjust to her new situation, although
she is being very patient with her new foster brother, who idolizes
her and follows her everywhere. She checks the doors and windows
often, waiting for her family's return. She is a quiet soul who
barks to go out and has had perfect house manners so far. considering
she was relegated to a garage once the children were born, she's
doing very well in the home again.
Mitsy is quite heavy and needs to lose about
20 lbs but otherwise seems in good health.
Original: Mitsy is a 9 year old (born
2/1999) black female with natural ears. Mitsy was sold as a puppy,
but came back to the owners when she was 1. She's been with them
ever since and they love her! But, the military is sending them
overseas and they dont want to risk her life with the long
flight or stress of moving at her age. She is a very affectionate,
shy and sweet girl, who at age 9 still really gets around. She loves
her buddy Trailer, and loves romping with him in the backyard. She
likes to go on walks, to the beach, and rides in the truck. She
is an outside dog now, but would love her own couch and would transition
to the inside without hesitation! She listens well, and walks with
or without her lead. She likes to bark at cats and other dogs, but
has never been aggressive toward them. She's been around children
for 5 years and has always been careful with them. She's a big sweet
baby who just wants kisses and hugs. We would like for Mitsy and
Trailer to be adopted together, but that is not a condition of her
adoption. Trailers info is below as well. Mitsy came to MAGDRL
in March 2008.
